On yesterday’s broadcast of the “Today’s Issues” radio program, American Family Association president Tim Wildmon voiced his displeasure with those “ignorant people” who claim that Islam and Christianity are both “peaceful religions.”

As Wildmon sees it, Christianity is very obviously a peaceful religion while Islam very obviously is not and so anyone who attempts to equate the two does so either out of ignorance or intentional deceit because, unlike the Quran, there is nothing in the Bible that calls for non-believers to be put to death.

“The Quran has explicit admonitions or instructions for followers of Allah to do violence and harm against the infidel,” Wildmon fumed. “There’s nothing like that in the Bible, that tells the Christian to go out and decapitate the infidel”:

This makes us wonder if Wildmon has ever read the Bible, especially Deuteronomy 13:6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your ancestors have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to them or listen to them. Show them no pity. Do not spare them or shield them. 9 You must certainly put them to death. Your hand must be the first in putting them to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone them to death, because they tried to turn you away from the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 11-Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.12- If you hear it said about one of the towns the Lord your God is giving you to live in-13 that troublemakers have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods you have not known), -14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you, 15- you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. You must destroy it completely, both its people and its livestock. 16- You are to gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God. That town is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt.

GOP Administrator Al Cardenas:

“Cardenas said that while many Republicans agree with Perry that Social Security needs to be reformed, the Texan’s rhetoric about the program being a “Ponzi scheme” was ill-advised.”

“When you call Social Security a Ponzi scheme, that tends to get some folks concerned. I think the electorate in a Republican primary is open to reform ideas … but they’re not willing to see us do away with it or to consider it in danger,” he said. “So when you use wording that may put it in an endangered category in the minds of a listener, that’s when you gotta explain yourself a little better.”

My guess is that Perry’s political advisor and financial gift-horse, the Rev. Don Wildmon of the “Dark Side” of Tupelo MS, has instructed Perry on his political Social Security ponzi scheme mumbo-jumbo.

A lot of us, myself included, are dependent on a Social Security check for our survival. Rev. Wildmon is by no means qualified to advise on legislation that effects any American’s Social Security Benefits. Period. Wildmon supports Perry thinking he is the president who will be the driver for his long sought-after Christian Dominionism to rule America according to the Seven Mountains format. Perry is a gullible means to an end for an activist like Rev. Don Wildmon. If Social Security is a “ponzi scheme,” Wildmon’s tax-exempt status is a “total fraud”( a simplified term) perpetrated on those working-class people who pay their taxes. Bring on the IRS! Bring on the Republican ethics investigators! PRONTO!!! BEFORE WILDMON & PERRY WREAK MAYHEM ACROSS THE LAND! -AB

One report I Binged from the WWW gives an update on the status of anal sex as currently practiced by heterosexual American men and women that I consider relevant to this debate:

Introduction:

Responsible politicians wouldn’t fawn over an unhinged activist who opposes civil rights and religious freedom for minorities, wants to make being gay a crime and decries his personal rivals as enemies of God, right? But that is exactly what is taking place today in the Republican Party, as likely and declared GOP presidential candidates line up to win the approval of Bryan Fischer, a radio talk show host and spokesman for the American Family Association.

Fischer’s unabashed bigotry is on full display throughout his writings and on-air rants. His entire career is based on leveling venomous attacks against gays and lesbians, American Muslims, Native Americans, progressives and other individuals and groups he detests. He wants to redefine the Constitution to protect only Christians, persecute and deport all American Muslims, prohibit gays and non-Christians from holding public office and impose a system of biblical law.

While Fischer’s views are undeniably shocking, what is most disturbing is his growing influence within not only the Religious Right but also the Republican Party.
